Coffee Tasting Geisha Variety
This Coffee Tasting Geisha Variety is truly a unique session!
Gesha/Geisha originated in the village of Gesha, Ethiopia, but remained under the radar until 2003 in Panama. Since then, Panamanian Geisha has become one of the industry’s most-famous coffees
Geisha has a distinctive profile: tea-like with a jasmine aroma, orange blossom and bergamot notes, and delicate florals. These sweet floral notes, and complex flavour profiles are some of the many characteristics that Geisha coffee shares with most other African coffees.
As for the plant, it grows best at high elevations (WCR recommend above 1,400 m.a.s.l.), is low-yielding, and can be delicate. It’s easy to identify this hugely popular variety by the angle of the upper branches and the shape of the plant. The branches toward the top reach out to the sky at a 45 to 50° angle. Geisha/Gesha has a tall stature with long distances between branches and nodes and a thin trunk and branches, somewhat like Typica.
The leaves are smooth and elongated, and the cherries are also elongated in a similar way to Typica fruit. In my experience, the main visible difference between Geisha/Gesha and Typica is that the former has an umbrella shape or flat top, whereas Typica has a conical shape.
In this Coffee Tasting Geisha Variety session, the team will present you 6 different Geisha from various producers and farms around the world!
