Barista Skills Intermediate (SCA)

The SCA Barista Skills Intermediate level of the barista skills module is for you who have previous experience! Looking to test yourself in more advanced skills that every competed barista must have? You should be able to dial in a brew recipe, make a full range of drinks with quality and speed, as well as understand the basics of customer service and maintenance.

In particular, you will learn about blends and their components, body and flavor from different varieties, processes and origins, the effect of ageing on coffee, workflow, workplace design and working in pairs. How grinding, distributing and tamping impacts taste and efficiency extraction and brewing (strength vs yield). Hygiene, health & safety at the workplace customer service cleaning, maintenance and troubleshooting and coffee shop management.

SCA Barista Skills Intermediate includes practical and written exams. If you succeed in both, you will receive the SCA Certification of the Specialty Coffee Association. There are no prerequisites for this course. However it is recommended that you have attended and successfully passed the Introduction to Coffee and Barista Skills Foundation level.

To secure your booking, you need to make a 50% deposit for cash payments.

After completing your reservation and before the course date, you will be asked to pay 50€ Course Enrollment Fee directly to the SCA Portal.

Learners must pay for the Course Enrollment Fee before they can take the written exam.

A paid Course Enrollment Fee will be transferable to another course if the learner is unable to attend the original course.
