Brewing Skills Intermediate (SCA)

A 2-day course looking deeper into the technical brewing concepts of grind analysis, extraction theory and water chemistry.

The Brewing Intermediate course covers the following topics:

  • History of brewing research from 1952 till today
  • The brewing process: wetting, hydrolysis & extraction
  • The ideal extraction and strength range, by navigating the Coffee brewing control chart
  • Strength measuring methods and usage of a refractometer
  • Water to coffee ratio, grind size, brew time, water temperature, agitation, filtration method and roast level
  • Water quality
  • Cold brew
  • Grinding, grinder & burr types, grind analysis

Note: In order to attend the seminar, a Covid-19 Certificate (Vaccine) or a Covid-19 Certificate (Disease) is required. Otherwise, by demonstrating a negative Rapid Test result up to 48 hours before or molecular PCR testing up to 72 hours before.
