Brewing Foundation (SCA)
Brewing Foundation seminar introduces you to the different methods of brewing in order to prepare a better coffee! You will discover how to produce a tasty brew based on an understanding of the essential brewing elements and an analysis of their brew results. There are no Prerequisites but Introduction to Coffee course is recommended.
In detail at Brewing Foundation you will learn about:
- The origin of coffee, species & process
- Brewing methods & Brew devices
- Coffee to water ratio
- Effect of grind setting on extraction
- Brewing time
- Water temperature
- Brew turbulence
- Water quality for your brew
- Filter media and
- How to hold your brewed coffee hot
In addition, you learn about sensory analysis of extraction by descriding the beverage's attributes, colour, aroma, taste and body. Last but not least, you will be awared of the key features of a Brewing Control Chart.
Seminar includes practical and written exams. If you succeed in both, you will receive the SCA Certification of the Specialty Coffee Association.
You will receive a Create notebook and a pencil to keep notes!
Note: You will need to carry a Covid-19 Certificate (Vaccine) or a Covid-19 Certificate (Disease). Otherwise, you need to demonstrate a negative Rapid or PCR Test result up to 48 hours before.
